Establishment

The Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Center (CE-LLC) of the University of the Aegean was founded in 2018. It is an academic unit that ensures the coordination and interdisciplinary cooperation in the development of education, continuing education, training, and lifelong learning programs in general.

Aims

The establishment of CE-LLC is part of the overall strategy of the University of the Aegean and allows the continuation of the institution’s activities in the context of Lifelong Learning, both in border areas and insular Greece, as well as at a national and international level, both by utilizing new technologies during the educational process, and through the organization of summer schools.

According to the provisions of Law 4957/2022, the purpose of CE-LLC is the organization of all kinds of educational and training programs, in the non-Formal educational sector.

In particular, the actions that are included are:

a) the organization, development and provision of training programs, non-formal learning, continuing professional training, re-skilling, upgrading of skills, general education for adults, counseling, and professional guidance and in general lifelong learning programs for the students and graduates of higher educational institutions but also the general population,

b) the provision of modern knowledge and skills based on the development of science, technology, the economy, and the changes brought about in the structure of employment by new professions and specialties

d) the organization, development, and provision of programs in the form of “winter” and “summer” intensive schools,

e) the organization of conferences, and seminars, on issues related to the Centre’s activities,

f) the development and production of printed and digital educational material,

g) the conclusion of contracts for the purpose of organizing and implementing programs for the training of personnel of private or public sector,

h) the preparation of studies, on issues related to the activities of CE-LLC

i) monitoring progress in the field of lifelong learning, relevant European and national policies, institutional changes and regulations, as well as formulating proposals for educational policy and the development of lifelong learning,j) the manifestation of agreements regarding programs related to actions of the Centre,

k) the collaboration of other Higher Educational Institutions (H.E.I.), Universities abroad, research and technological institutions in article 13A of Law 4310/2014 (A’ 258) and with other research and technological institutions with CE-LLC for the development of educational activities.

Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Center (CE-LLC) of the University of the Aegean, utilizing and expanding the Foundation’s experience and know-how in the organization and operation of educational programs through lifelong, blended and e-learning, offers a set of innovative Educational Professional training and specialization programs in cutting-edge scientific fields.

AIMS

The purpose of the Programs is the active contribution of the University of the Aegean to the development and strengthening of human potential through continuous, lifelong learning and uninterrupted access to valid scientific knowledge, through Educational Programs that are accessible, regardless of age, gender, employment status, location of residence, etc. Having implemented more than 200 Training Programs to date, the University of the Aegean offers knowledge and skills to people who do not have access to what is traditionally taught by Universities to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
They, therefore, provide better opportunities for professional training, development in the workplace, but also alternative opportunities for personal education, training and self-improvement.

CHARACTERISTICS

The main features and advantages of our programs are:

• Courses that are offered either through on-site learning or online distance learning or with mixed education models, that successfully combine on-site and online distance learning, thus covering all the possible educational needs of the trainees.
• Conducting online and mixed training through asynchronous learning, but also interactively through modern teleconferencing.
• Teaching and development of educational material, by academic and scientific staff of the University of the Aegean and other HEIs in the country or abroad.
• Beginning of courses throughout the year.
• Issuing Certificates that include the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
• Continuous educational, technical and administrative support through all the stages of registration and training.

The University of the Aegean Summer Schools offer unique opportunities for young and experienced scientists and researchers from all over the world to participate in state-of-the-art research activities and exchange innovative ideas and methods, while at the same time they are given the opportunity to explore the wonderful islands of the Aegean.

In addition, it is a unique opportunity for the University of the Aegean, which is a University oriented towards international academic research, to highlight and further project its academic activity to the international academic community, while at the same time the University can support the economy of local societies.
